Thanks for checking in before your visit!
Whether it’s your first time or your hundredth, here’s everything you need to know about visiting our bar—what to expect, where to go, and how to have the best night possible with us.

🍻 A Little History
Established in 1965, Timothy’s has been a staple of the University of Dayton nightlife scene for decades. We’re proudly located on the first floor of a historic building built in 1890. Our second floor, known as the Double 18 Lounge, pays tribute to the bar that previously occupied this space and offers a more relaxed experience away from the buzz of the main floor.

🕺 What’s the Vibe?
We are, proudly, a true college-town dive bar—which means if you're into a chill beer-and-shot atmosphere that turns rowdy (in the best way) as the night goes on, you’re in the right place. If big crowds, loud music, and packed floors aren’t your scene, you might prefer visiting earlier in the evening or hanging upstairs in the Double 18 Lounge or outside on our back patio.

  • Double 18 Lounge & Patio: Close around 1:30 AM

  • Main Bar (First Floor): Open until 2:00 AM

  • Last Entry: We stop letting guests in at 1:50 AM

🚪 Entry & Front Door Policy
To ensure everyone’s safety and compliance with Ohio law, everyone must present a valid, government-issued ID upon entry.

🔞 Age Requirements

  • 21+ only allowed unless accompanied by a legal guardian

  • Legal guardians must share a last name and home address (as shown on a government-issued ID)

  • No exceptions to this policy—thanks for understanding!

🛑 Right to Refuse
We reserve the right to refuse entry or service at any time. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Arriving visibly intoxicated

  • Inappropriate behavior or disrespect toward staff or guests

  • Failure to comply with posted policies

If a guest is behaving in a way that puts themselves, others, or our staff at risk—or if they’re too intoxicated—we may ask them to leave. Our priority is always the safety and well-being of everyone in the bar.

💸 Cover Policy
We do charge a cover on Friday and Saturday nights, but some guests may be exempt with the proper verification:

🎓 Cover Exemptions (w/ valid ID or proof):

  • University of Dayton Students (student ID or student app)

  • UD Alumni (old student ID or diploma photo)

  • Legal Guardian of UD Students (matching last name & address required)

⚠️ Exemptions do not apply during the following:

  • Family Weekend

  • St. Patrick’s Day

  • Graduation Weekend

  • Reunion Weekend

  • Nights with Live Music or Special Events

🎟️ Skip The Line Access
Want to skip the wait and head straight upstairs?

We now offer Skip The Line Wristbands available for purchase ONLINE 5 days in advance of your visit. These include:

  • Front-of-line VIP access at the front door

  • No cover

  • VIP entry to the Double 18 Lounge

Just show your wristband at the door and head on in—no waiting, no hassle.

🍹 Inside Timothy’s
Once inside, you’ve got plenty of options:

  • Main Floor: 2 Bars + Dance Floor; features live DJs and bands

  • Back Patio: 1 Bar + Cornhole & Ping Pong; great for fresh air and drinks under the stars

  • Double 18 Lounge: 1 Bar + Kitchen; more relaxed with seating, large outdoor deck, and high-end drinks/bourbons

Our staff is here to help you have a great time—please be patient and kind to everyone working the front door, behind the bar, and on the floor. They’re working hard to make your night a great one.

🚫 A Note on Behavior
We’re here for a good time—but also a safe time. Please remember:

  • If you show up visibly intoxicated, you won’t be allowed in

  • If your behavior becomes disruptive, you may be asked to leave

  • If you’re disrespectful to staff or guests, you will be asked to leave

Bottom line: Treat people right, and you’ll have a great night.

🧃 Outside Items Policy
To maintain a safe and secure environment for all our guests:
No outside food, drinks, or book bags are permitted inside Timothy’s. Please plan accordingly—any items brought to the door will need to be discarded or left behind.
